It has been uncovered that Quangos maintained their association with a Stonewall diversity scheme, flying in the face of a government order to sever links with the charity. Unexpectedly, despite this directive, at least eight arms-length bodies - overseen by government departments - dispensed thousands of pounds to Stonewall in the last financial year. The intriguing part? Stonewall's income from government-backed grants soared beyond half a million pounds.

All the while, these memberships have stirred up unease among government officials. One of them being Kemi Badenoch, the Business Secretary and Women and Equalities Minister. The anxiety stems from the perceived sway Stonewall holds over policy decisions and the charity's positioning on transgender issues.

The charity's financial records for the fiscal year 2022-23 disclose some curious numbers. Stonewall received a whopping £572,868 in grants from government-backed sources. A considerable increase from the prior year's grant of £426,390.

This developing scenario, of Quangos retaining memberships with Stonewall, raises some interesting questions. How have these ties persisted in the face of direct orders from the government to the contrary? The story continues.

As we dig deeper into the government's increasing coffers to Stonewall, a major question arises: What lies behind the substantial surge in government grant funding to the charity? The full story is yet to unravel. Stay tuned.
